For Lovers of Historical Fiction

Forgotten Nebraska History - Sheridan County, June 1908

On a lonely stretch of railroad, a thunderstorm rolls, bringing pouring rain, pelting hail, and dangerous lightning.

A culvert, not strong enough for the impact of the storm, washes away, carrying the railway bridge with it.

A freight train, chugging through, picks up speed as it rolls downhill, slamming into dirt, rock, and a hillside that has never been there before.

Train cars splinter. Tracks twist and gnarl together. Water torrents cover desolate ground.

Upon impact, the conductor, Russell Alpin, flies through the cab window, leaving behind a couple severed fingers.

Jack Murray, a loner who had snuck onto the train, wakes as his head smashes the side of the train car - hearing screams from men trapped inside the train as he opens the door, jumping down into frigid water up to his chest, sludging to the front of the train, where he finds Russell bobbing up and down in the water, in shock.

The train wreck is only the beginning: Jack - a man who has nothing left to lose, Russell - who isn’t sure the world will ever make sense again after losing those closest to him, and Doc Hanover - the one who can cure, hides a secret that could lead to his death.

The lives of these surviving men become intertwined as they try to figure out how to move on - in Wrecked.
